Vintage Christmas This Weekend
By jason | December 3, 2008
This Sunday we kick off Vintage Christmas (check out the site - check it).
This Week | The First Family Road Trip
Dec 14 | Less is the New More
Dec 21 | Born to Die
Dec 23 | Christmas Eve Experience (7pm-7:50)
This is going to be a great series with some cool creative elements involved. You won’t want to miss out on this opening weekend, come and see for yourself.
Beyond all the fun and cool I’m staggered as I immerse myself in these opening scenes of Matthew and Luke. The magnitude of what God does in the person of Jesus is unbelievable. This morning my gaze steadied on Matthew’s use of Isaiah’s prophecy (Matthew 1.23). The way Matthew understands the telescoping of God’s promise in Isaiah 7, finding its utlimate fulfillment in Christ is majestic, to say the least.
My prayer for myself and others - for us - is that we will catch a fresh glimpse of Christ from these stories that so often have become mundane to us. And because they’ve become “ordinary” we have become dull to see God’s great work in the birth of Christ which leads ultimately to his death and resurrection. I am praying that we will have an encounter with Christ this Christmas that will forever change our tomorrow.
So be there this Sunday and spread the word. Email everyone you know. Pass out all the invite cards. And more than anything, pray. Pray for God to move in our community, changing lives forever. Only God can do that.
