      Sunday Recap @ LifeConnection - Dude’s Day

      By jason | June 17, 2008

For anyone who didn’t know, this past Sunday was Father’s Day.  So sporting my newly received Father’s Day gift - a shirt (with a collar no less) - we kicked off our One Prayer series.

This Sunday was the only live teaching for this series and was the first time I taught in a couple of weeks.  All that combined created the perfect storm and I was a bit amped up on Sunday, in a good way I think.  I focused on “Lord, Make us Risk-Takers.” And while the teaching had implications for everyone in attendance I had all the dudes at the forefront of my mind, for sure.

Now, I want to say right here and now that I didn’t submit this teaching as a corrective to anything I’m seeing or not seeing at LifeConnection.  I spent most of Friday and Saturday thanking God for the many godly men we have around and who have my back.  I’m sure we have some who are weak, cowardly, and mooching off others like leaches instead of living like men.  But that’s not what gave rise to this teaching.

My great hope, rather, is that men will sac up and live like men.  If we’re going to see change in our world and change in our lives it will come when men catch a vision for God and take risks relationally, missionally, and spiritually.

All in all I think it went okay, I’ve heard some positive remarks so far (although most who think you sucked it up keep those comments to themselves I find).  You can be the judge yourself as I am uploading the audio as I type this.  (listen)

The music was outstanding this weekend.  I know I’m biased and I say it often, sorry - but it’s my blog so there.  :)  Also this weekend I noticed a considerable difference in the decibel levels.  And in light of Father’s Day I personally found it appropriate to “rock it like it’s Father’s Day.”

If you have feedback would love to hear from you.  Shoot out a comment.

If you want to read Carson’s recap check it out here (his are always more entertaining than mine).
