One Prayer & LifeConnection

A few weeks ago LifeChurch.tv announced it’s One Prayer project inviting churches all over the world to join together in a unique series. The idea is that the local church will begin the 4 week series live and then choose 3 (out of hundreds?) video messages from all over the world.
This is a truly unique idea (as far as I can tell) and what a cool idea it is. What a way to demonstrate our oneness as believers than by joining together over the things we have in common.
After discussing it and stewing over it LifeConnection has decided to join up with One Prayer. We’re not submitting a video (we have no business doing that) but we are going to join in the 4 week series. And I’m really excited about it.
For us there are several reasons this is a good move.
- If the Lord allows, multi-site could be in our future with the possibility of video venues. This allows a little foray into that arena right now.
- This is just the sort of creative ministry we want to be a part of in the city. Again, I don’t know of anything like this ever happening (over 300 churches now involved). Sure it wasn’t our idea but it is a creative idea nonetheless.
- It allows us to place some great communicators in front of our church. This also has a downside because I’ll have to get back up in front of people after this series (bad news for me).
- It allows us to join with churches of all different stripes and rally around the gospel of Jesus.
I’m excited our team has decided to take this faith risk. It could completely bomb, no doubt about it, but there is no way to become God’s R&D department in KC if we don’t take faith risks.
