National New Church Conference

I’m sitting outside of Panera Bread in Orlando, FL waiting for the pre-conference workshops of the National New Church Conference to begin. NNCC has truly become “the largest gathering of church planting leaders in North America” as their website touts. The conference had 800 participants last year and this year, as of a few weeks ago, was well over 1,600.
I wish I could tell you which pre-conference workshop I’m attending, but I have no idea. LOL. Those of you who know me will not be surprised, but I say this is why they keep track of these things electronically. So when I check-in they’ll gladly tell me where to go!
In keeping with my lack of administrative concern I failed to reserve a rental car. But fortunately my employer has a corporate account with Enterprise. So while the poor saps had to stand in a huge line, I was escorted from the corporate account holders line (I was the only one in the line), to the reservation desk. And then the helpful attendant hooked me up with a sweet XTerra, only 1,700 miles on the bad boy.
One of our team members, Matt Leiboult, is with me (sorry ladies, he’s spoken for). He’s sitting across the table from me right now picking his nose. Oh, my goodness, he just ate it! Okay, maybe not.
We hit the Orlando night life last night after we arrived. You know, all the hot spots. We headed over to the Golden Corral, put away our fair share of buffet steak. And then we got crazy and hit the Super Market, bought our breakfast and lunch food for the week. Returned to the room and watched the BoSox finalize their sweep of the Evil Empire. It was a good night. Quite the raucous evening. When you’re a church planter you have to learn how to party hard.
Well, I’ll try to give some updates throughout the week. It’s going to be a great conference, I’ve been looking forward to it for a while.

Watching the Sox sweep the Yankees was certainly a highlight of my weekend as well!
