Ministry Team Meeting
By jason | July 1, 2008
Sunday we had our monthly Ministry Team Meeting. This group is composed of those who are leading the different ministry areas of our church right now. In the last month I have been leading us to make the turn to focus on mid-range strategy (8-10 months). We only meet once a month and I think this is what will become the most effective use of our time. (Unashamedly I have found much help from Patrick Lencioni’s book Silos, Politics, & Turf Wars).
Sunday we spent time considering a Thematic Goal that we think will guide us to our one year anniversary in February 2009. We then moved on to look at the Defining Objectives that we think will help us fulfill this goal.
In the next few weeks we will:
- Clarify the number and language of our Defining Objectives.
- We will begin determining the Standard Operating Objectives and Metrics to gauge our progress.
I’m pretty stoked about this. I think it will create a sort of “rally cry” that will lead us to some pretty cool things in the next 8 months. I think it will creates a sort of “crisis” that will motivate us as a team. I think it will give us a healthy sense of urgency, clarity, and focus.
How do you work out strategic planning in your context?
