LifeConnection Sunday Recap
By jason | April 14, 2008
Well Sunday was an awesome day. We had our first ever baptisms at LifeConnection. It was so cool to celebrate how God changes lives. We had 3 ladies go public with their faith yesterday.
The music was awesome yesterday. It was a great way to celebrate what God is doing. The set after the baptisms was really fun. The music just really fit well with the atmosphere of the morning. God has certainly worked in our planning.
We did have a catastrophe yesterday…because of me. The long story short is somehow I forgot our monitor adapter in Springfield (I could have swore I put it in my bag). So I ran all over town before the service attempting to find a replacement. 2 minutes after the service was to begin we had a single projector running. I’m so glad that we had it. I felt completely awful as I thought about how we wouldn’t be able to show the videos of each girl sharing her story. I hate when I screw things up like this.
Well, we meet in a gym and so we have to improvise for baptism. After many calls this week I was able to borrow a trough from Tractor Supply Company. It was a perfect size and we were so fortunate to borrow it.
We set the trough up front and center on the floor. We were afraid the weight of the water would be too much for our staging. So it was a little low to the ground but I think it worked out and people could still see.
We used a clean 55 gallon trash barrel to fill up the trough. We put all hot water in thinking it would cool off a lot before the service. Unfortunately it was still really hot when the girls had to enter. But whatchu gonna do? Is it better to be hot or freezing?
We had each girl share their stories on video. This is something we want to do with all those who follow through in baptism. What a great opportunity for them to share what God has done in their lives. I think that was really cool to hear yesterday.
It all just worked out really well. It was a lot of fun. And then after the service we had a Newcomers lunch and invited everyone to stick around to eat pizza and find out more about LifeConnection. We had a great turnout for that as well.
I can’t wait to see what God does over the next few months.

Man…sounds like a totally awesome day. People that have never lead or been a part of a church plant totally can’t relate to that day on so many levels. The incredible experience of people coming into that relationship with Christ…and the same morning rushing all over town for equipment. And even though I’ve frozen out all kinds of people because of my uncanny ability to forget to turn the baptismal on, I’ve never boiled anyone. What an awesome day you had, you’ll never forget it:)
