Dude, if this is true, that is brutal. Really disappointed if that’s what happened, can’t believe that, Why in the world would he do that? Unreal.

Man. I’m floored. If this is true…wow…

Completely disgusted is probably the best way to describe how I’m feeling.

Is it right for me to want to throw this song away? Such an awesome song…and now it seems tainted. Forever tainted. If this turns out to be true, it’s going to be really difficult to sing Healer and not be mentally distracted by this disgusting situation. Am I the only one?

        Scumbag. Utter scumbag.

I feel sorry for Danny, his father, who IS a great man of God. I feel sorry for his wife and kids.

I hope Hillsong kick his song off their album, yank it off the DVD, and that all churches punt it as far as they’re able. All the royalties that would be earned from it should be withheld, and put into a trust fund for real needs, not some faked up charlatan.

It’s amazing though.. In the end times, even the elite will be decieved.

I sent a similar knee-jerk email to Jason when I heard about this. It is definitely upsetting…

That’s extremely awful. But it’s so easy for us to point a finger and say “how dare he”. There’s not a single person out there who is better than him- just a lot of people whose sins are not as public as his. Instead of judging him, we should seek to forgive him and encourage him to seek a closer relationship with Christ.

Like that quote- “every time you point a finger, you’ve got four pointing back at you”.

And Christians wonder why it is so difficult to reach the world.

it seems like this just shows how much focus is on the presentation and performance of worship services and songs in particular. I am sure many of the hillsong leaders are humble people, but for those less mature, it is definitely an attraction to be on the center stage leading music. we need to keep focus on God’s word and our personal relationship, and not rely on performance and presentations during worship services to supplement simply knowing our creator.

I am a drummer who has played with hillsong and many other christian groups. it is easy for us to get upset at the situation. but we cant let this steal our joy. we are all sinners, i know that i have sinned and i am so glad it hasn’t been put all over tv or the web, we all make mistakes. the only thing that gets us through it is God’s Grace. sin is sin, no matter if it is done in our home where no one see’s it or in this case on a dvd and over the web. I love this song and it has touched me. when i first heard about this my reaction was to be mad, how dare him betray us christians, we have a hard enough time as it is. I stopped took a deep breath and the one word that kept running through my head was….GRACE, Gods Grace. the Lord can use anyone. instead of beating this man down we need to be lifting him and his family up in prayer. Forgiveness is the key. ask yourself what would Jesus do. I’m not preaching.. just letting you know whats on my heart. I love you guys. keep serving Him

        Are you all completely dumb?
He might have lied… i do not know…
But that song… the holy spirit is with that song…
it shouldn’t be kicked off the album either…
you see… christians get loads of rubbish off human race… because mentally… they always think they’re right… we get worse punishments than you as well.

michael jackson committed disgusting crimes. but you don’t see his albums being burnt and destroyed… no you do not… celebrities take drugs… you don’t see people destroying there films and braking their CD’s. i honestly think he had cancer. Mike pivilachi, PAstor of the soul survivor church met him… and prayed for him… mike pivilachi also runs something called Soul survivor… in England. He told People his story and we then watched his song… people were crying their eyes out. Also… as christians we should learn to forgive, and all you non christians… you just want to feel like you are right and christians are wrong because it makes you feel better and you’re jealous because we know the truth.

Thanks for everyone jumping in the conversation. Interesting array of opinions to be sure.

Luke, the one problem with thinking he actually had cancer is according to the article, he admitted he did not. So the test becomes: at some point in time did a doctor tell him he had terminal cancer. Very simple really.

We’ll wait and see how this unfolds today.

The song seems to be more relevant than ever - healing is needed but from a mental illness rather than a terminal one

Lance, as of 6am there wasn’t anything new. But I haven’t looked since.

Jade, has there been corroboration of mental illness? You’re not the first I’ve seen point to that but I have not seen anything official making that statement, only some speculation. Do you know of any articles or press releases making that claim?

      15. Jade Says:

A release from Hillsong Church in The Australian newspaper:

is news has come as a great shock to everyone including, it seems, his own wife and family,” Hillsong general manager George Aghajanian said in an email to his congregation yesterday.

“Michael has confirmed that he is not suffering with a terminal illness and is seeking professional help in Adelaide with the support of his family. We are asking our church to pray for the Guglielmucci family during this difficult time.”

      16. jason Says:
        August 21st, 2008 at 4:01 pm

Yeah, that’s from the same article I posted.

But it doesn’t say he is suffering from a mental illness that would cause him to lie (as some have alluded). Nor does it say he just overtly decided to cheat people out of money through deception.

It seems there are still many unanswered questions.

        Matthew 7:15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

        Matthew 24:11
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

        Matthew 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

        Mark 13:22
For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if [it were] possible, even the elect.

        Luke 6:26
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

        2 Peter 2:1
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

        1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

I’m amazed at the harshness in the face of such a sad situation… Guys… We ALL fall sometimes… Yes, his was a little more public, but what about FORGIVENESS… Isn’t that what our Christian faith is all about… As has been said already… Grace, grace and more grace… He who is without sin, caste the first stone… Isn’t that more the face of it? And the song is STILL true! He IS an awesome Healing God… It’s still all true… and we do need to pray for Mike… and his family… and pray for Gods healing power of LOVE to cover a multitude of sins… ours included… XXX

its a sad thing that when a brother falls, the church likes to ride over and trample them while they set on there hi horse and point the finger and condemn
i’ve seen more compassion, forgiveness, help, caring and love at a BAR than in the church today
very very few people people would go to recover a brother, while we set and say i’m glad i’m not like him a sinner
he who thinks he stands take heed lest he falls

The sad, sad part is how right you are, Bill…
It’s easy to look down on a brother and laugh. It’s harder (but far more rewarding) to reach down and lift a brother up.
When I was in college, even though I was not in a Greek organization, I always said I understood why people would join Greek organizations and not the various Christian clubs around the campus… there was a LOT of judgment and ridicule in the Christian clubs, so much that I eventually left those clubs for good because I knew that I was not yet strong enough to deal with it. Whereas in the Greek organizations, everyone became equal over a pint of beer. You weren’t ridiculed if you were unable to binge-drink as much as your frat brothers/sorority sisters, just taken to a bed to sleep it off. They had mastered Jesus’ command to love one another in a way that the Christians would have been wise to learn.
(note: NOT saying that all greek organizations are intrinsically sinful- my cousin is a preacher and fraternity member! they just happeed to be pretty bad on my campus.)

I am still so confused and dont know what to think. I think its fair for me to say i feel hurt, betrayed and somewhat disappointed. The oxygen prongs during the recording sessions, the canulla during the conference and his little talk got me to really think about life. I prayed for him hoping he will get better but then now i dont know what to think. I think as a christian i should not despise him but hate what he has done. I think people should forgive him and pray for him to get thru this. If he confessed thats a first step. I pray for his family and the church not to be discouraged by this. And at the same we should be more aware coz the devil is really at work amongst us, its time to be more vigilant than ever. God bless you all

To me, the issues is way bigger than just one guy falling. he didn’t fall he was raised on a lie! could absolutely nobody in the whole hillsong crew see through the lie?? how did he pull this off for 2 years and in all that time nobody had enough discernment or spiritual awareness to see through the lie. nobody got “a word” about it?? what does that say about the wider body?? I feel nothing but sympathy for michael himself I’m sure the last 2 years have been torture for him. I’m not perfect and have told plenty of lies in my time but we need to ask some bigger hard questions or this will happen again.

I know this song has touched many people and even hearing it now it brings me to tears. I believe that even though this song came out of a man living a lie that God still used him as a vessel through this song to touch other people and change their lives. That man needs Jesus just as much as you and I do.

I am broken, you are broken, we are all broken and need THE Healer, Our Savior and King - JESUS. The words of the song are prophetic to each of us so that we may reach out and receive our healing. “You are ALL I Need, Your sacrifice was MORE than Enough.” Lord, we ask for Your Restoration, Your Resurrection Power to come and Heal Mike, and Heal Us Too in the Name of Jesus the Messiah. Amen. I agree there is incredible anointing on this song. Don’t disgard it please. God uses broken, tainted, foolish vessels to confound those who think they are wise. Lord use me.

Now that the dust has settled..let God be God, love our nieghbour, be doers of the word and keep the flame alive. As truth prevails no matter who entertains us. Lets do our part and win the lost.

I think Michael was really sick. Cancer? No! But yes… Mentally, emotionally, physically (weird symptoms of sickness) and spiritually.

This doesn’t change the message: God is our Healer.

The song, “Healer” should never be about Michael, but about the Lord.

        Keep Strong! Eph 6:10

my 2 cents worth. I never liked that whole thing with him coming out with the oxygen it never felt right but what could I say? Now I love darlene to pieces but this falls on her, and Im her biggest fan so i can say this. what was he doing there anyway? Ya why was not Miriam there or Marty or darlene, this is what darlene gets for haveing a come one come all mentality about the worship recordings. Darlene needs to tighten it down to her, Miriam (remember her) marty, Ruben, brooke, Joel, and thats it, stop bringing all these other people out it weakens the recordings. IMHO
