Future Planning & Faith for the Journey

      By jason | April 3, 2008

I was reminded this morning as I read Psalm 119 for The Scripture Challenge how much God has accomplished in less that a year of landing in Independence (Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. v27).

Here I sit in a home office that God provided, typing on a computer that he provided, drinking coffee that he provided, listening to tunes that he provided.  And all that is just the tip of the iceberg.  And I’m trying to meditate on his wondrous works because I know that is what will build faith to trust him for the future.

We are coming up on an intense season where a lot of our external support will be going off line.  We are not yet in a place to sustain ourselves internally (we’re at the 8 month mark of a 3 year plan, Lord willing).  So we still need a lot of outside support to sustain us to do what He has called us to do in the city.  As I look back it is clear that he has provided every step of the way.

As we look to some future planning for the summer and fall ministry seasons we’re needing to see him provide once again.  And in some ways this is a really good time because it causes us to really prioritize our spending and planning.  We just don’t have excess cash to buy things that aren’t needed.  I know some churches where at the end of the year they’re scrambling to buy stuff so they don’t lose their budget money.  That’s just not where we’re at.  :)

What an exciting time for us.  We get to see God provide for the birth of a brand new church.  As hectic and stressful as it is from time to time I know in 20 years we will look back on this time with extremely fond memories.  God has allowed us to be here for just a time as this.   We’re taking part in his story, even if in a small way, as he writes it even as we speak.

As he writes history may God use LifeConnection to reshape the futures of many.  What a privilege, he allows us to see it happen now.
