Follow Up from Easter In Independence

Becoming a Blessing
This event may seem like it was a big waste of time. I mean if you are purely looking for a numerical output, we only had a 20-30 person jump in attendance on Sunday. An event with 1,500 only translated in a slight increase in attendance the very next day.
But here’s the thing. On the one hand that’s not why we did this event. We did this event to become a blessing to our community. We wanted to bless our community, no strings attached.
Helping People Find Jesus
Now don’t misunderstand me. Becoming a blessing to our community entails helping people move toward Jesus (consider how Paul recasts God’s promise to Abraham in Galatians 3.7-11). So yes, I have been praying feverishly that we could see people come to faith in Christ as a result of what we did this past weekend. And so it’s important to realize that we have 300+ families to follow up with now. We will be sending out letters to everyone who attended.
We had everyone we could register at the event. It was a quick and simple card to fill out. It was their entry to win door prizes. This card allowed people to tell us what they would like to find out about. They could mark things like finding out more about LifeConnection, talking to someone about Christianity and following Jesus.
Making Contact
Our only means to contact these attenders is via letter (as we only requested mailing addresses - can you say “oversight?”). So we are sending out a letter to each attender based upon their comments. We’re attempting to answer any questions they might have, inviting them to attend our weekend Worship Experience, and trying to set up an appointment to talk to them about following Christ.
My great hope and prayer is that we will see God use LifeConnection to help change the way people think about him. God entrusted over 1,000 people to us at this event for a reason. And now we are doing all we can to connect with as many of those people as possible.
If you’re so inclined feel free to pray with us toward this end.
