      First Sunday - Partner Commissioning

      By jason | June 2, 2008

Last night we held our First Sunday Worship Experience. It was a lot of fun. I love First Sundays because it is a great time to hang out with people, praying together in more concerted ways, stripped down musical worship, it’s an awesome time.

And last night was no exception as we had our first every partner commissioning. Partner is our language for “membership.” Those who have been with us since long before we launched were afforded the opportunity to become partners upon acceptance of our partnership qualifications and expectations. While we have a 5 week Partner Connection (teaching about our views of God, the Bible, Salvation, our vision and strategy, our Core DNA, our leadership structure, etc.) these are people who have traveled through this for almost a year!

As it was our first ever commissioning service we thought it pertinent to invite some of our sponsoring churches to join us in this special celebration. And a great contingent from FBC, Oak Grove came over and Pastor Randy Messer led in a prayer of commissioning. It was a special, might I say, holy moment as people gathered around our partners and laid hands on these believers praying for God to do great things in our lives and in our church.

I have had this sense that this event will be huge for us this summer. What an amazing thing to see people committed to the cause of Christ through this local expression of the church. Every day I grow to have a greater love and appreciation for God’s church - local churches. And I feel extremely privileged to be a part of LifeConnection.

I can’t wait to see what God does in the days and years to come.
